Julia Strand, associate professor of psychology, received two commendations from the Society for the Improvement of Psychological Science.

The first commendation was for her 2023 paper, “Error Tight,” which describes exercises for lab groups to identify places in their research workflow where errors may occur and pinpoint ways to address them. The second commendation was for her publicly accessible seminar on open science and replication.

Additionally, Strand received a National Institutes of Health Academic Research Enhancement Award. The three year project, “Listening effort and audiovisual speech by L1 (‘native’) and LX (‘nonnative’) English speakers” builds upon her previous NIH-supported research and includes funding for student researchers and educational associates.
